Ethanol for disinfectants

Why ethanol for hand sanitizers and disinfectants?
Antimicrobial Properties:
Sanitiser ethanol is effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Ethanol denatures and disrupts the cell membranes of these pathogens, leading to their inactivation.
Rapid Evaporation:
Ethanol evaporates quickly, leaving behind little to no residue thus making it desirable in disinfectants and sanitisers as it ensures a fast drying time, making the application process more convenient and efficient.
Broad Spectrum Activity:
Sanitiser ethanol exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity making it effective against a wide range of pathogens and a suitable choice for use in various settings, including healthcare, food service, and household disinfection.
Cooling Sensation:
The evaporation of ethanol from the skin or surfaces can create a cooling sensation which is often perceived as refreshing and can contribute to the user experience, particularly in personal care and cosmetic aerosol products.
Compatibility with Surfaces:
Ethanol is generally compatible with a variety of surfaces, including glass, metal, plastics, and electronic devices. Its use in disinfectants allows for the effective sanitisation of different types of surfaces without causing damage.
Safe for Skin:
In lower concentrations, sanitising alcohol is safe for use on the skin. It is a common ingredient in hand sanitisers, where it helps kill germs on the skin's surface. However, it's important to note that hand sanitisers often contain emollients to counteract the drying effect of alcohol on the skin.
